Meghan Markle’s Suits role was ‘too much’ for Royal Family, co-star’s wife claims

*Meghan Markle’s former role in the legal drama Suits has resurfaced in discussion, with new claims suggesting the Royal Family had mixed feelings about her on-screen work before her marriage to Prince Harry.*
Before joining royal life, Meghan spent seven years portraying paralegal Rachel Zane, the love interest of Mike Ross, played by Patrick J. Adams. Her character became well known for both her intelligence and romantic storylines on the show.
Claims About Royal Concerns
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Eliza Roberts — wife of actor Eric Roberts, who also appeared in the series — alleged that some senior royals were uncomfortable with the more intimate aspects of Meghan’s role.
Discussing the actress’s career, she said:
“Her making love with another man, that was just — they’ve never seen anything like that.”
“She worked so hard to get there. That was just too much.”
Eliza also reflected more broadly on Meghan stepping away from acting after her engagement, adding:
“Women don’t give up their jobs for a marriage anymore.”

From Hollywood to Royal Life
In addition to Suits, Meghan had roles in films such as Get Him to the Greek, Horrible Bosses, and 90210. Despite praising her performance, Eliza said she could understand why Meghan chose to leave her acting career behind when she became part of the monarchy.
Meghan married Prince Harry in 2018 and took on royal duties, though the couple later stepped back from their roles in 2020. They cited ongoing challenges within the Royal Family, including claims of mistreatment and concerns raised about their son Archie.
A Return to Entertainment?
Since relocating to California, Meghan and Harry have focused on charitable and media projects through Archewell. Meghan has also launched her lifestyle brand As Ever and appeared in a Netflix series offering a glimpse into her personal life.
More recently, reports suggest she may be stepping back into the entertainment industry, with a possible cameo in a comedy-drama film titled Close Personal Friends.
Eliza welcomed the idea of Meghan returning to acting, saying:
“Meghan is a star,”
“From the second you see her, she just has star quality. It doesn’t matter. It was always going to happen.”
While her journey from Hollywood to royalty — and beyond — has been anything but typical, Meghan’s past work continues to spark conversation. Whether she fully returns to acting or not, her presence in the entertainment world remains a topic of ongoing interest.
